Sorry…and We’re Back! | Happy New Year

Happy New Year | Randall Wong, M.D., Retina Specialist, Fairfax, Virginia 22030This has been the longest hiatus I’ve ever taken since starting this blog 5 years ago.  Starting last summer,  several of my sites were hacked.  In addition, I decided to finally redesign the website.

And then you received all those empty emails (spam) from us yesterday!  So sorry.

Website Got Hacked

Late last summer, I got an email from a patient saying that he thought my site had been hacked.  This may have happened to you, too.

When going to my site from a smartphone, users were redirected to a porn site!

Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident.  This happened to several of our sites (Amy and I own several websites).  “Cleanup” could take several hours per site, but what was worse, each site became reinfected.

This cycle repeated itself through the fall, during which I had no time or heart to keep writing.

At this time, I believe the problem is under control (fingers crossed!).

Website Re-Design

Once unhacked, I began the project of redesigning the website.  While I truly believe that websites with great content don’t need to “look” great – I decided to reinvigorate the whole site with a new logo, color scheme and theme.

I love the logo, new color scheme and modern “scrolling” parallax effect.  The layout is completely different.

We’ve got several problems with the new site and slowly I’m debugging.  Please be patient.

Content Still Same

As far as I can tell, the content of the site has survived the re-design.  All the content is here, newer posts under “blog” and a “table of contents” can be found under “Articles.”

I hope to continue to write and educate about retinal diseases; diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and retinal detachments, but will also be focusing a bit more on the nuances of retinal surgery.

Happy New Year | 2015

I wish you and your family all the best for 2015.  Thanks for your patience, I’m excited for the New Year!

Randy
