Schedule an Appointment
Here is a basic step by step guide on how to schedule a consultation with Dr. Wong.
Fill out the patient registration form and submit it online. These forms are encrypted for security purposes.
Andrea is our retinal consultation and surgical coordinator. She will be contacting you within one or two days to discuss your case. Please make sure we have your “best” contact information for you.
Once your appointment has been scheduled, you will receive a detailed packet confirming all appointment dates and times.
An initial consultation will be scheduled with Dr. Wong at his Pender Drive office. He will perform a full exam and go over any questions or concerns you may have the day before anticipated surgery. This will minimize your time away from home. The surgery is easily canceled if you, or he, decides to postpone or opt out of having surgery done.
We participate with most U.S. insurance health plans.
If you have insurance, please share with us the necessary information to allow us to confirm your benefits before contacting you.
We participate with most major medical insurance plans, outside from some forms of Medicaid. Most insurance companies (aside from HMO’s) consider retinal consultations and/or surgeries to be medically necessary.
If you do not have insurance or your policy refuses to cover the procedure, please email or call us.
You may require medical clearance based upon your age and health. Andrea should be able to help guide you through the clearance process.
A nurse will be contacting you a few days before your surgery date to get medical history information and medication information. Andrea will register you with the surgery center once you are scheduled.
There are many local hotels near and between the office and the surgical center. The two destinations are about 20 minutes apart, so you will have many different options of lodging during your stay. Some offer a free shuttle to the surgical center (Woodburn Surgical Center).
Some of these hotels offer medical discounts for our patients.
You will not be able to drive to or from the surgical center on the day of surgery. State law prohibits your driving after receiving anesthesia. Surgery will be performed on an outpatient basis (i.e. you will not be admitted to a hospital).
Dr. Wong or one of our doctors will see you the morning following your surgery (which will be on Saturday). In most cases, you will be cleared to return home after this visit. Please make arrangements with you local eye doctor for a follow-up visit within 7 days after surgery once you return home.
If you prefer to have Dr. Wong do your second post- op, this would be scheduled on the Thursday following your surgery and you should make arrangements to stay in the area until then.
