Mike Rosco MD

Hey. I’m the new guy in town!

I recently completed residency in comprehensive ophthalmology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. I am an avid technophile who is interested in exploring the role technology can play in improving the many aspects of healthcare. And what better place to spend some time than a site dedicated to teaching people interesting facts about their eyes?

So why did I choose ophthalmology? My decision was strongly influenced by my experience growing up with a blind grandmother. Nonna’s glaucoma was so advanced that her vision was reduced to bare light perception. Witnessing firsthand how acutely her lack of sight affected her quality of life had a profound effect on me. When it came time in medical school to choose a speciality, the memory of Nonna solidified my commitment to preserving sight.

When I’m not spending my time treating patients and teaching them about their eyeballs, you can find me on the pickleball courts (yes, the pickleball bug has bitten me as well) trying my best to keep up with these lightning-fast 22 year olds. I also enjoy skiing, SCUBA diving, weight training, and spending more time than I ever would admit to playing competitive online games.

I’ll be working closely with Dr. Wong to make this site as helpful as possible to you. When you submit questions or comments on our message boards, you’ll commonly see my name listed in the response. Rest assured, I will continue the same quality, evidence-based tradition started by Dr. Wong. Whether you are a patient, a fellow physician, or simply someone who is curious about the world of ophthalmology, I am here to help.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and I look forward to connecting with you soon!
